Milestones

1989 : Phytotron was incorporated and registered under Companys Act as a private limited company with two permanent promoter directors.

1990 : First time in India a Bioregulator PSR to enhance sucrose percentage in sugarcane was developed and put for Technical evaluation at the Deccan Sugar Research Institute (now VSI) at Manjari, Pune, India. The results of the formulation are encouraging.

1991 : VSI institutional trials were followed by multi-locational trials of PSR, in three sugar factory plantations, covering total areas of 1160 acres. To conduct aerial spraying of the designated plots, a helicopter was put to service. This again was a unique research trial first time in India, at such a large scale.

1992 :
a) The trials on sugarcane product were repeated for the second consecutive year to ascertain the results.

b) New fruit ripener RASEEK was developed and put to research trials in three Agricultural Universities.

1993 :
a) Field trial and demonstrations started with fruit Ripener RASEEK in Grape Growing areas of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.

b) A technical Presentation was made on the Phytotron-PSR New Sugarcane sucrose enhancer at the Indian Sugar Millers, conference on Cane Quality Improvement, held at Indian Sugarcane Research Institute, Lucknow. The presentation was well received by the Industry and even some trial orders were received by the company. However, non-availability of enough aerial spraying equipment posed lot of difficulty in conduct of further PSR demonstrations.

c) Phytotron also initiated a research programme on NEEM based products. First product to come out was PHYTONIM a formulation of neem terpenoids.

1994 :
a) Work was initiated on development of New Formulation of PSR to overcome the application related problems.

b) Phytotron came out with VININ first of its kind Gibberellic Acid synergist and institutional trials were initiated at Tamilnadu Agricultural University, Maduri campus.

1995 : Product launch of RASEEK, field trials and demonstrations of VININ were main features of the year. Research trials were also on way for use of RASEEK as a coffee fruit ripener. Phytotron developed yet another product NIMITRON an Azateractin formulation from Neem, for as an Insect Antifeedant.

1996 :
a) Phytotron came out with its PSR-Granular formulation and Field trials as well as Big Mill test were conducted. The project finally reached to its successful stage from were the launch into test market could be done in the coming years.

b) Market launch of VININ in two important Grape Growing Districts of Maharashtra was initiated with excellent response.

c) Phytotron setup at Yelahanka its SSI unit, a pilot plant to manufacture sufficient quantities of various products for field trials and test marketing.

1997 :
a) Company purchased Industrial land from KIADB at Jigani, near Bangalore, and setup its first Marketing Office in Maharashtra at Pimpalgaon near Nasik.

b) PSR, VININ and RASEEK were now in the market. RASEEK trials in coffee continued for the second year.

c) Phytotron initiated its development work on PHYTOCHROME Bioregulator.

1998 :
a) Phytochrome formulation results were successful and field trials were initiated. Research work was also under its way on another equally important formulation PHYTOVIT, to combat the problems related to crop losses due to various Environmental Stresses as well as the Stress caused by Human abuse of its agro-ecosystem.

b) Phytotron setup a separate Research and Development facility at J.P.NAGAR, Bangalore.

1999 :
a) PHYTONIM a need based terpenoid formulation was test marketed in Parts of Madhya Pradesh near Indore.

b) Phytotron Research Center was awarded recognition by the Department of Agriculture, Government of Karnataka, as an approved center for the Testing of Agricultural Inputs, namely Micro-fertilizers.

2000 :
a) Phytotron started an ambitious project on Antiviral Drugs for Control of Plant and animal viral diseases. This resulted in the development of ZILLON an antiviral remedy that is effective against, a predominantly found, large group of Gemminoid Viruses. ZILLON has proved to be effective both as prophylactic as well as a curative treatment against many DNA and RNA viruses.

b) Phytotron also signed Strategic alliances for product promotion and marketing with Hockley International, UK and Conatus Corporation, USA.

Phytotron has initiated steps to test market ZILLON in some important crop areas largely plagued by viral disorders. Company is also now expanding its market network to introduce its range of products in different states of the country.

2001 :

b) A major multi-location PSR product demonstration program, as a lead technology for “Cane Improvement”, was initiated by the Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research (ICAR), Lucknow and supported by World Bank.

2002 :
a) The World Bank funded at IIHR program on PSR went its second year. The results of first successful year were presented at International Sugar Technologists Association’s Conference, in Australia.

b) To implement its vision and mission of taking the company to international frontiers Phytotron initiated steps to setup on overseas office in Toronto to cater to NAFTA markets. Many major Agro-Companies have sent letters of intent

2003 :
a) Company initiated steps for product registration with Food Inspection Agency of Canada to pave way for marketing its products in the new territories.

b) Phytotron Research Center came out with yet another two new products for field testing one fungicide KIRAN and one pesticide DEBUG.
